Bayonne Man Arrested For Aggravated Assault With a Weapon…A Car

Bayonne assault and arrest

23-year old Adonis T. Miller of West 54th Street in Bayonne has been arrested according to Police Captain Eric Amato.  Miller was taken into custody at 11:10 pm on Saturday from the area of 53rd Street and Kennedy Boulevard.

According to Captain Amato, officers responded to the area of 53rd Street and Kennedy Boulevard on a report of a motor vehicle crash.  When they arrived, the striking vehicle had fled, but officers were advised by witnesses that the vehicle fled towards the Woodmont Bay Club.

In the outdoor parking lot, they located the unoccupied vehicle with heavy damage.  While investigating, a man, later identified as Miller, approached the vehicle, got in, and drive away.  Officers immediately followed the vehicle and attempted to conduct a car stop, but the vehicle drove at a high rate of speed east on W. 54th Street towards Kennedy Boulevard. The vehicle ultimately entered the parking lot of Marist High School where a police vehicle continued to follow.

At that point, Miller turned his vehicle around and drove at the police vehicle in an attempt to strike it with his vehicle.  At the last minute, Miller steered his vehicle away, narrowly missing the police vehicle.  The officer was finally able to stop Miller’s vehicle and place him under arrest.  A search led to the recovery of marijuana.  Miller was also processed on an active warrant issued out of Elizabeth.

Miller was also charged with eluding.
