BAYONNE — A 26-year-old Bayonne man has been charged with possessing child sexual abuse material after investigators traced uploads on the messaging app Kik to an account he owned, Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello said.
Members of the Hudson County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested Savion Drayton, of Bayonne, on Tuesday, Oct. 13, the Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement released Wednesday.
Drayton is charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a child/possession of child sexual abuse material, a third-degree crime, under N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4b(5)(b)(iii). He was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus and released on a summons pending his first court appearance, according to the statement.
Between July 2024 and June 2025, the task force received information that suspected child sexual abuse material was being uploaded to Kik, the Prosecutor’s Office said. The investigation found that Drayton owned the account, according to the statement.
The charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
