For the second time in less than a month a Bayonne resident has been arrested and charged with criminal sexual contact. According to Bayonne Police Captain Eric Amato, 23-year old Jeron R. Ransom of Kelly Parkway has been taken into custody.
Ransom was apprehended at 11:46 pm last night from the area of 8th Street and Broadway. Captain Amato says officers responded to the area on a report of an alleged sex offense. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the 25-year old, female victim of Bayonne. The victim reported that while she was walking on 8th Street, a male, later identified as Ransom, approached her and requested her Instagram name.
After the victim refused his request, especially from a stranger, and stressed that she was not interested in his advances, Ransom persisted and grabbed the victim, pulling her closer to him and hugging her. While hugging her, Ransom rubbed his hands up and down her back. The victim was able to push Ransom away, at which time Ransom proceeded to touch himself in a sexual manner, appearing to gratify himself.
Ransom was located and apprehended in the area of 8th Street and Broadway.
He faces charges of criminal sexual contact.
