Bayonne Police Captain Eric Amato reports that 55-year old, Bayonne resident Levern Edmonds of 55 Prospect Avenue in Bayonne has been arrested in connection to an armed robbery earlier this week.
Edmonds was taken into custody at 8:30 Wednesday morning from his residence on Prospect Avenue after being identified as the actor of a robbery involving a handgun that was reported on Tuesday at 4:36 pm. On that date, the male victim, an employee of Quick Check located on East 22nd Street, reported that an unknown male approached him at the gas attendant booth and demanded all of the money in his possession and in the booth.
During the robbery, the actor, later identified as Edmonds, had a bag over his hand and told the victim that he had a gun while pointing his hand at the victim, thus leading the victim to believe that a gun was indeed pointed at him. Edmonds fled the scene after obtaining approximately $500.00 in cash from the victim.
Bayonne Police Detectives immediately initiated an intense investigation which led to Edmonds being identified and apprehended at his home in less than 24 hours after the robbery.
Edmonds is charged with robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.
