Numerous arrests have been reported by the Bayonne Police Department since last Thursday, January 16. The following arrests have been reported by Lt. Eric Amato of the Department’s Bureau of Criminal Identification:
24-year old Marquis S. Rivera of West 44th Street in Bayonne was taken into custody on January 16th by police in the vicinity of 57th Street and Avenue C. He was charged with a narcotics violation for being in possession of heroin, a controlled dangerous substance.
At 6:40 pm on Friday, January 17th, 24-year old Rainlin Vasco of Garibaldi Avenue in Newark, was stopped by Bayonne Police as he was driving a 2000 Hyundai Elantra in the area of East 22nd Street. Police discovered that the car had been reported stolen from the City of Elizabeth. Vasco was charged with receiving stolen property and taken to the Hudson County Jail.
An investigation remains underway after a 13-year old boy was approached by an unknown male at the McDonald’s, located at Broadway and 25th Street, last Friday shortly before 9 pm. According to the police report, the actor approached the boy, who had just purchased a soda, and demanded that the boy turn it over to him. When the boy refused, the assailant slapped it out of his hand. When the victim left the McDonald’s he was approached by three more actors. All four actors punched the boy repeatedly, throwing his cellphone against a wall, causing it to break. The victim suffered minor injuries. Police are searching for the four assailants.
On Saturday, January 18th at 2:53 pm, 27-year old Sarah J. Marnell of East 32nd Street in Bayonne, was arrested and charged with DWI in the area of East 37th Street.
Also on Saturday, several incidents of theft, automobile burglary and motor vehicle theft , in addition to aggravated assault were reported. Police are continuing their investigations in case.
Finally, at 6:33 pm on Sunday, January 19th, Bayonne Police arrested 23-year old Jerry Wooten of Halladay Street in Jersey City. He was charged with possession of 50 grams or less of marijuana. The arrest happened in the area of Avenue E and 32nd Street.
