Bayonne Resident Arrested After Lengthy Tire Deflation Investigation

Bayonne Police have announced the arrest of a city resident, in what can only be described as a very weird criminal case.  In fact, it is quite deflating!!!

According to Police Captain Eric Amato, 51-year old Paul C. Campbell of Dodge Street was been arrested following a lengthy and detailed investigation conducted by the Bayonne Police Department Detective Bureau.  The investigation spanned from 09/25/2021 thru 05/05/2022.  Campbell was identified as the individual responsible for placing tire deflation devices in the immediate area of Dodge Street, Orient Street, and East 5th Street.

As a result of Campbell’s mischievous actions, Amato says a total of 11 criminal mischief to auto incidents (flattened tires) and 2 aggravated assault incidents (victims stepping on the device) were reported.  The device is described as a sharp, 4-prong metal object designed with the purpose to cause a puncture and deflation to vehicle tires as they drive over it.

On 05/05/2022 at 10:01 am, Detectives arrested Campbell at his residence and officially charged him with 11 counts of criminal mischief to auto and 2 counts of aggravated assault.
