Bayonne Census Job Fair Planned for Thursday, January 23, at Library
Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that the U.S. Census Bureau will hold a job
fair at the Bayonne Public Library for Census 2020 on Thursday, January 23, from
4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the Art and Music Room, on the second floor of the
library. The library is located at 31st Street and Avenue C.
Mayor Davis said, “I would like to thank the Census Bureau for giving local
residents the opportunity to apply for positions with Census 2020. Hiring people
with knowledge of local neighborhoods and streets will be very important for a
successful population count. I urge Bayonne residents to take advantage of this
opportunity for employment that will be helpful to our nation and our
Mayor Davis continued, “I would like to thank Library Director JP Porcaro for providing a location for this job fair. Applicants should understand that decisions about hiring people for Census 2020 will be made by the U.S. Census Bureau, and not by the City of Bayonne or any other local government.”
People interested in working for the Census Bureau will have the opportunity to apply for office or field positions for Census 2020. Hours are flexible. Job-seekers can indicate a preference for working mornings, afternoons, evenings, or weekends.
At the job fair, applicants will have the opportunity to apply for employment on computers provided by the Bayonne Public Library.
The Census Bureau will offer paid training to new employees. Any transportation costs to training sessions will be reimbursed. Anyone who is hired will be paid weekly by the Census Bureau.
