Bayonne Senior Robbed of Purse. Suspect At Large

A 73-year old Bayonne woman was robbed of her purse on her own porch on Thursday night at 10:22.  According to Captain Eric Amato of the Bayonne Police Department, the incident at 52nd Street and Avenue B occurred as the victim was checking her mail box, which is on her porch.

An unknown man approached the woman from behind and demanded her purse.  After the woman refused, the assailant tried to forcibly remove it.  He dragged the senior down the porch steps and onto the sidewalk. He fled the scene in possession of the purse.

The woman was treated at the Bayonne Medical Center for injuries to her wrist, upper arm and knee.  The robbery remains under investigation.

Also on Thursday, police arrested 35-year old Christopher C. Johnson of Kearny Avenue in Jersey City, for trespassing on the 7-Eleven property after being warned that he was not permitted to be there.
