Bayonne Earth Day Clean-Up Set for Saturday, April 24
Mayor Jimmy Davis reminded Bayonne residents, businesses, clubs, and organizations that Bayonne’s Earth Day clean-up will take place on Saturday, April 24. Mayor Davis said, “Every year in April, the City of Bayonne comes together for our annual Earth Day clean-up. Earth Day 2021 will provide residents a great opportunity to volunteer to clean up and beautify our community. It’s a day when we can work together building community spirit and a cleaner city.”
Bayonne’s Earth Day 2021 is sponsored by the City of Bayonne, with the support of funds from the State of New Jersey’s Clean Communities Program. Mayor Davis said, “There was an impressive turnout of volunteers for the Earth Day clean-up in 2020. We look forward to a continuation of that enthusiasm in 2021.”
Mayor Davis continued, “We are inviting individuals, community organizations, and other groups of volunteers to sign up to clean a specific area of the community on Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Interested organizations and individuals are invited to register a team. Sign up for team of 4-10 people, or we can place individuals on a team near where you live or work.”
Since 2017, various teams, local businesses, and community groups have taken part. Mayor Davis said, “We would like to encourage all of them to sign up again for the 2021 clean-up. As Mayor, I would also welcome new groups and individuals to join us on Earth Day for the citywide clean-up.”
Teams will be asked to take photos of the garbage bags collected, so that they can be displayed on Facebook. The group with the most litter collected wins lunch with the Mayor. The Department of Public Works is coordinating the clean-up with the Bayonne Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ).
