BAYONNE SMALL BUSINESS PROGRAM
Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis announced the availability of small business grants to qualified local businesses, thanks to a new round of federal funding.
In order to be eligible, a business must have no more than 25 full-time employees, and it must be current with its taxes. The program excludes non-profit organizations, real estate holding companies, and franchises.
Mayor Davis said, “I urge all Bayonne small businesses that fit the qualifications to apply for this grant program. Many small businesses have been through hard times during the Coronavirus pandemic. This grant program provides an opportunity for qualified small businesses to recover some lost ground. The grants that small businesses may receive come under the American Rescue Plan, which is intended to help local economies recover from the economic distress that began in 2020.”
Applicants must submit the following documents: W-9-request for taxpayer identification number and certification; W-30-employer report of wages paid; 2019 tax return; and 2020 tax return or 2020 extension.
All applications must be filed on an online platform only: https://bayonne.arpgrants.com. That platform will be open only from August 9 through August 20.
Applicants will be able to access their account after submission. Any applicants with questions or needing help filling out the online application should call 1-800-608-5176 or email BayonneGrants@nwfinancial.com. If any applicants require help scanning or uploading documents, they can email BSBGrantHelp@BayNJ.org to set up an in-person appointment at City Hall.
The application period will run from August 9 through August 20. No late submissions will be accepted.
Award amounts will vary by applicant, and will be based on revenue loss and prior grant award amounts.
Checks will be sent directly to successful applicants by October 2021.
