With October being Fire Safety Prevention Month, the Bayonne Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Bureau is once again sponsoring a Fire Prevention Poster Contest for city children. The theme for this year’s contest is “Serve Up Fire Safety In The Kitchen.”
The contest is open students throughout the city and is divided into various grade categories, with grand prizes awarded to the 6 winners for the best posters addressing this year’s theme. Students in all grades through high school are eligible to take part.
The deadline to enter the contest is November 4th. That’s when all posters must be dropped off at the Korpi Ice Rink, located behind Bayonne High School, and dropped in the proper age category bins. You can drop off the posters between 9 am and 3 pm, Monday through Friday. Members of the Fire Prevention Bureau will do the judging and make the announcement of who the winners are by December 1st.
Other than sticking to the theme, all students have to do is be creative and get that message across of the importance of Fire Safety in the Kitchen.
Hudson TV reporter Jeff Henig spoke with Bayonne Fire Chief Keith Weaver and several members of the Fire Prevention Bureau about this year’s poster contest, and the importance of fire prevention earlier this week.
