City Thanks Hudson County Bar Foundation for Food Bank Donation
Mayor Jimmy Davis Mayor Davis announced that the Hudson County Bar Foundation has donated $2,188 to the Bayonne Food Bank. The Hudson County Bar Foundation is a non-profit organization that is affiliated with the Hudson County Bar Association, the professional organization for lawyers in this county.
Mayor Davis said, “On behalf of the City of Bayonne, I would like to thank the Hudson County Bar Foundation for its generous support of the Bayonne Food Bank. Their contribution will help many residents during this difficult year.” Mayor Davis continued, “The Coronavirus and the 2020 recession have caused unemployment and a growing need for programs to help people. As a result, many local residents need help getting enough food for their families. That’s why City Council President Sharon Ashe-Nadrowski and City Business Administrator Melissa Mathews organized the Bayonne Food Bank in coordination with the Bayonne Economic Opportunity Foundation (BEOF) earlier in 2020. That food bank conducts frequent food distributions in the community. Thanks to the Hudson County Bar Foundation, the Bayonne Food Bank will be able to feed more people in need.”
The Hudson County Bar Foundation was organized by the Hudson County Bar Association in 1962. The foundation’s activities include educational programs for lawyers, Law Day programs for the public, and scholarships for students in law school. The Executive Director of both the Hudson County Bar Association and the Hudson County Bar Foundation is Bayonne resident Lisa Burke.
