COVID-19 in Bayonne?
Being vaccinated is the best way to protect yourself from serious illness, hospitalization, or death in the event you contract the Coronavirus. In Bayonne, we have 60 residents that are considered Covid-19 positive at this time. We have one Covid-19 positive resident currently admitted to the Bayonne Medical Center. As of the beginning of this week, nearly 80% of our adult population has received at least one dose. Nearly 70% of our adult population has completed their 2-dose regimen. Also, over 50% of youths, ages 12-17 have received at least one dose.
How can I be vaccinated?
Anyone over the age of 12 (Pfizer) or 18 (Moderna, J&J) is now eligible to be vaccinated. Please go to the Korpi Ice Rink (behind BHS) to receive your vaccine. Pfizer will be given on Tuesdays (9am – 5pm) and Thursdays (11am -7pm) for anyone over the age of 12. Moderna will be given on only on Wednesdays (9am -5pm) for adults over 18. Anyone that is moderately or severely immunocompromised can now receive a 3rd dose (booster). This 3rd dose is being given at the Ice Rink. Please wait at least 4 weeks from the 2nd dose before getting this booster. There is talk of the general public getting a booster shot, however, that guidance has not yet been released.
COVID-19 Testing to Restart
Mayor Davis has directed Dept of Health and OEM to re-establish Covid testing in Bayonne. Beginning on 9/2/21, we will offer testing (both PCR and Rapid) at the Bayonne Museum at 229 Broadway. This testing will be done on Thursdays (1pm – 7pm) and Sundays (9am – 3pm).
