CAL TECH Senior Comes Home To Mentor JMSA Students In Astrophysics

Ramzi Saber graduated from Union City’s Jose Marti STEM Academy in 2021.  Now a senior at CAL TECH in Pasadena, the astrophysics major has returned home this summer to mentor students at his former high school.

Ramzi was born in Morocco and came to the United States at the age of seven.  He spoke no English.  He always had a love for space, the stars, and astrophysics.  So it comes as no surprise that following graduation from the STEM Academy, he went on to major in astrophysics in college.

Currently a senior, he has interned at NASA, working on a project involving the Roman Space Telescope.

This summer Ramzi is giving back to his former high school.  He’s mentoring students who have an interest in astrophysics.  It’s something he loves doing.

Ramzi hopes to attend Princeton University following his graduation from CAL TECH. Nadia Makar, the STEM Supervisor at Jose Marti STEM Academy, says she’s extremely proud of Ramzi, citing him as another example of the young leaders being produced by the Union City school system.
