Chartwells' Power Up Fueling Performance Program At UCHS Rejuvenates Athletes

The Union City Board of Education, in partnership with the district’s food services provider Chartwells, has implemented Power Up, a fueling performance program, to prepare and rejuvenate student athletes through simple and healthy food preparation.

Last week, during an assembly held at Union City High School, a professional chef demonstrated various ways to prepare healthy meals and snacks to help fuel student athletes’ warmups and recoveries following workouts and games.

The main message was simple.  Healthy food preparation does not have to be difficult.  It can be fun and easy, with all types of meals and snacks that taste good, and are good for the body.  Smoothies, mini bites and bowls all can be prepared at home in a short amount of time.

The Power Up program will certainly enhance the performances of Union City’s athletes in the days to come.
