Congressman Payne Hospitalized Following Cardiac Event

Rep. Donald Payne, Jr. (D – Dist. 10), is at a local hospital following a cardiac event April 6th according to his Congressional office.  Payne, a Newark native, has represented the 10th District since 2012.  The district includes a portion of Jersey City in Hudson County.

Although the Congressman’s office has issued numerous statements since Payne’s April 6th heart attack saying he is in stable condition and recovering, the New Jersey Globe is reporting that Payne has not regained consciousness since the cardiac incident.  It has also reported that the six term Congressman is on a ventilator.

Payne reportedly is at the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.

The cardiac episode is reportedly related to Payne’s diabetes.

Payne’s office stated, “While we hope for a full recovery, we ask everyone to keep him in your prayers.”
