La Escuela Pública Prep County Only en Hudson recibió la designación de Ribbon Azul 2020

On Thursday, the United States Department of Education awarded Blue Ribbon status to nine public schools in New Jersey.  The only public school in Hudson County receiving the prestigious award is County Prep High School in Jersey City, part of the Hudson County Schools of Technology district.

Blue Ribbon designation is based upon several criteria for high student achievement, including statewide assessment of performance, student growth and graduation rates, plus student group performance.

According to New Jersey’s interim Education Commissioner Kevin Dehmer, schools are honored in one of two ways; high overall, exemplary performance or making the most progress in closing achievement gaps.  In all, nine New Jersey schools have been designated 2020 National Blue Ribbon awardees out of 367 across the country.

Hudson County Superintendent of Schools Amy Lin-Rodriguez was thrilled to learn of County Prep’s Blue Ribbon designation, stating, “Receiving a Blue Ribbon Schools designation from the U.S. Department of Education is an outstanding achievement for our district and validates our dedication, commitment and passion to education.  We are all incredibly proud of the students, instructors, support staff and leadership at County Prep High School for earning this prestigious award.”

County Prep High School is one of Hudson County’s two vocational high schools, the other being High Tech in Secaucus.  The school gives students the opportunity to learn beyond the classroom through internships, partnerships with Hudson County Community College and other hands-on learning experiences. The school was designated as a National Blue Ribbon School under the category of “Exemplary High Performing Schools” for being among New Jersey’s highest performing schools as measured by state and national testing scores.
