COVID-19 aumenta dramáticamente en Union City

As has been reported for several weeks, Hudson County is now experiencing the second wave of the coronavirus, and the most recent statistics released from Union City are not good, as the municipality is seeing a huge increase in coronavirus cases.

On the city’s official Twitter account it is being reported that there have been 500 new COVID-19 cases reported in the city in the past week alone.  Here’s what was reported on Saturday by Union City officials:

“Union City has 5,432 total confirmed cases, since March, and sadly 227 residents have succumbed to the virus.  We will continue to keep them and their families in our thoughts and prayers.

The number of positive cases has gone up by over 500 over the last 7 days.  We are seeing a serious spike in cases.  This spike should be taken very seriously.”

There were 91 new cases reported in Union City from Wednesday night into Thursday alone.  City officials continue to urge residents to use common sense and social distance, wear masks when leaving their homes and wash their hands frequently.

And as a reminder, Union City officials say residents who want to get tested can go to the virus and antibody testing site on 36th Street between Bergenline Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard.  For Monday and Friday appointments, call (201) 537-5704.  For appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays call (201) 366-8465.  No tests will be given without an appointment.

Walk-ins are permitted on Wednesdays and Saturdays only.
