East Newark Middle School Student Instruction Goes Remote Following Positive COVID Test

A positive COVID-19 test at the East Newark School has forced the district to announce that middle school students will receive instruction remotely beginning tomorrow, Monday, November 16.  In a letter to parents dated Saturday, November 14 from Chief School Administrator, Dr. Edward R. Corbett, it was announced that in person learning has been suspended from November 16 through November 30.

Corbett stated, “I write to inform you that an individual at East Newark School has tested positive for Covid-19. The district is coordinating closely with public health officials and following CDC, state and local health department guidance in order to ensure the health and safety of our community. If you were in close contact with the individual, you will receive a separate notification from our local health department. Cleansing and disinfecting of all exposed areas has been completed. In-person middle school instruction will be suspended from November 16 until November 30. All middle school students (grades 6 to grade 8) will receive instruction virtually.”
