Hudson TV has learned that a 23-year old secretary at J.R. Floral Designs, located at 567 52nd Street in West New York, was arrested on March 3 for stealing $6,000 total in customer deposits over the course of the past year. A source has told Hudson TV that Mauren J. Galdamez Puerto of Jersey City is the alleged employee who stole the money.
Puerto faces three criminal counts for allegedly committing forgery over the course of twelve months from January 2020 through January 2021. According to information obtaining by Hudson TV, Puerto forged the signature of the owner of J.R. Floral Designs, a third degree crime, on a forged receipt, a fourth degree crime.
The third count against Puerto is for impersonating the business’ owner while making an oral or written agreement with a customer, a third degree crime.
This was all done when the defendant provided the customers with a Zelle account where customers transferred their fraudulent deposit for services. The business owner provided deposit receipts to authorities that Puerto allegedly issued to customers. In addition, the business owner provided a photocopy of a receipt in which the defendant fraudulently used the identity and signature of the victim, the owner of J.R. Floral Designs, to issue the customer receipt.
