The environmental clean-up work is progressing nicely at Dennis P. Collins Park between 1st Street and the Kill Van Kull in Bayonne. The PPG Company has had the court-assigned responsibility to clean the site.
According to the City, after more work is completed, PPG will turn the park property over to the City of Bayonne. That is expected to occur in the near future. According to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s requirements, PPG has generally installed a two-foot cap of clean soil over the entire park area shown in the aerial photo.
In addition, PPG has worked with associated, required transition work and the municipality has awarded a contract to reconstruct this portion of Collins Park. Park renovations can begin following the completion of PPG’s environmental work.
