The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the North Bergen Police Department are investigating a collision that fatally injured a motor-scooter operator on Saturday, April 8, 2023. The motor-scooter operator, who has not been identified at this time, collided with the rear passenger side tires of a Freightliner fuel truck while attempting to merge onto the westbound ramp of Route 495 near John F. Kennedy Boulevard and 32nd Street in Union City.
The police were notified of the motor vehicle collision just before 3:45 p.m., and responding officers found the injured motor-scooter operator at the scene. The male operator was pronounced dead at approximately 3:50 p.m. during the preliminary investigation.
The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the North Bergen Police Department are actively investigating the case, and no arrests have been made at this time.
