The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Bayonne Police Department are investigating a crash in which a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle on Monday, April 24, 2023.
According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, at approximately 11:50 a.m., the Bayonne Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of 22nd Street and Broadway. Upon arrival, responding officers located a female victim – later identified as 74-year old Maryann Patey of Bayonne – with a head injury. She was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 12:46 p.m.
The striking vehicle, a black Nissan operated by a 31-year-old Bayonne woman, remained at the scene. The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Bayonne Police Department are actively investigating this case.
