Fun With A Cop Water Olympics

North Bergen youngsters got to know their township’s police officers in a unique way on Friday at James J. Braddock Park.  At an event co-sponsored by the township, the public library and the police department, called Fun With A Cop Water Olympics, the kids, ranging in age from 5 or 6 through 12, got to throw water balloons at officers, hose them down, or just douce them with water guns.

It was a very wet time with an important lesson for the youngsters.

The officers are here to protect them, and every member of the North Bergen community.  They are not the enemy.  The kids should not be afraid of them.  The message seemed to stick.

The township first began this program in conjunction with the library and police department back in 2017.
