Governor Murphy Attends WNY Rally For Congressman Menendez

Two days ahead of Tuesday’s Primary Election, Governor Phil Murphy joined a rally in West New York in support of Congressman Rob Menendez’s re-election.

The incumbent, freshman Congressman is in a heated Democratic Primary battle with Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla.  In addition to Governor Murphy, among the many elected officials at the Sunday rally organized by Mayor Albio Sires, the district’s former Congressman, and the Board of Commissioners, were Union City Mayor and State Senator Brian Stack, Weehawken Mayor Richard Turner, Assemblyman Gabriel Rodriguez, Hudson County Executive Craig Guy, Hudson County Commissioners Caridad Rodriguez and Chairman Anthony Romano, former Governor Jim McGreevey, former West New York Mayor Felix Roque, West New York Superintendent of Schools Clara Brito Herrera and West New York Board of Education President Jonathan Castaneda.

The message given during the rally was clear.  Congressman Menendez has run on his two record of accomplishments on Capital Hill.  He knows the issues of the district and the people of the district.

Mayor Stack stated, “Every vote counts.  We don’t want Congressman Menendez to win.  We want him to win big.”  Governor Murphy said, ” Congressman Menendez deserves re-election.  He has fought for the people of the 8th Congressional District.  He isn’t making promises about what he will do.  He has done it already and will continue to do so in the next two years.”

Menendez is the only Hispanic Representative in the only Hispanic-majority district in New Jersey.

The polls will be open on Tuesday, June 4th for the Primary Election from 6 am until 8 pm.
