Guttenberg Mayor Wayne Zitt & Council Swearing In Ceremony Today

The Town of Guttenberg will hold its swearing in ceremony for Mayor Wayne Zitt and members of the Town Council this afternoon, Monday, January 5th at 4:30 p.m. at the Gerald R. Drasheff Community Center located on Hudson Avenue between 68th and 69th Streets.

The public is invited to attend.

Mayor Zitt has served for years on the Guttenberg Democratic Committee and is the council chair for Guttenberg’s Police Committee. Among his achievements are expanding senior services in Guttenberg, including implementing a senior nutritional program; upgrading and improving parks in the community; and saving residents nearly $1M in taxes over four years through a partnership with the school and Board of Education.  He served as the chief of staff to 32nd Legislative District Assemblywoman Angelica Jimenez from 2012 to 2016 and as senior advisor to Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto from 2017 to 2018.

Also being sworn in after winning re-election in November are Councilman Richard Delafuente, Councilwoman Monica Fundora, and Councilman John Habermann.

Councilman Delafuente is Town Council liaison for the Guttenberg Building Department, Fire Prevention/Code Enforcement, and the Police Committee.

Councilwoman Fundora is in charge of the Recreation & Senior Services Departments. Monica is also a Trustee on the Hudson County Schools of Technology Board of Education. She is the council liaison for Guttenberg’s Department of Public Works, Building and Grounds, and UEZ.

Councilman Habermann has served the past eight years as Trustee and Vice President on the Guttenberg Board of Education.  On the Town Council, he is liaison for Guttenberg’s Recreation Department, Department of Administration and Human Resources, and the Police Committee.

The Council will hold its reorganization meeting following the swearing in ceremony.
