Harrison Police Mourn the Passing of 23-Year Veteran, Sgt. “Ernie” Hernandez

The Harrison Police Department is mourning the passing a of 23-year veteran of the force this afternoon, as Ernesto “Ernie” Hernandez has lost his battle with cancer.    The Harrison Police announced the Sergeant’s death in a Facebook post this afternoon.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Sergeant Ernesto “Ernie” Hernandez #930. Sgt. Hernandez was a twenty three year veteran who lost a hard fought battle with cancer. Sgt. Hernandez started his career with the Newark Police Department before transferring to the Harrison Police Department where he served as a Patrolman, Detective, Task Force Officer with Hudson County Prosecutors Office (Narcotics Unit) and ultimately was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
