High Speed Car Chase Leads To Arrest of 22-Year-Old Bayonne Man In Jersey City

A high speed car chase early on Tuesday morning has resulted in the arrest of a 22-year old Bayonne man.

According to Bayonne Police Captain Eric Amato, Zachary H. Nemiri was taken into custody at 12:43 a.m. for narcotics offenses after he led Bayonne Police on a high speed chase from the Peninsula City into neighboring Jersey City.

As police attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop of the 2003 Acura he was driving in the area of Kennedy Boulevard and 47th Street, Nemiri failed to comply and sped off, leading to a high speed pursuit into Jersey City.  Nemiri eventually stopped the vehicle in the area of Seaview Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard and was arrested.

Police found more than 50 grams of marijuana in the Acura, along with THC candies and narcotic paraphernalia.  Upon continuing their investigation, police learned the actor was wanted by the Harrison Municipal Court on two, outstanding arrest warrants.

Nemiri was taken to the Hudson County Jail in Kearny.  He faces a slew of charges, including eluding police, possession of over 50 grams of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute, including intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school and 500 feet of public housing, possession of a synthetic narcotic and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.  He also faces the two, outstanding warrants.
