Hoboken’s 2nd Ward Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher details community events happening around the Mile Square City:

May 18, 2022
Dear friends and neighbors,
I don’t know about you, but I am so ready for it to be summer. These little weather setbacks are so annoying! I had hoped to get a full newsletter out but it has been a busy week so I at least want to get this one about upcoming events to you (including tonight!). And then later today I will send one that has some meatier issues – but two previews that I know were important to the community: Hudson County Planning Board voted in favor of the Hudson Tavern Cannabis Dispensary and last night the Hoboken City Council voted 9-0 to expand the Cannabis Review Board.
There are so many great events and activities happening over the next few weeks – something for everyone! Starting with Ukraine…

MEMORIAL DAY PARADE
Wednesday, May 25th 630 PM
City Hall to Hoboken Elks

Who doesnt love a parade?!?! This is one of my favorite Hoboken events and it is returning after a two year pause due to COVID! Also, one of my favorite pictures – Battalion Chief Mario Fini, Mayor Bhalla and his son, Former 5th Ward Councilman Peter Cunningham, Councilwoman Jen Giattino, Councilman Mike DeFusco and his neighbor, Former State Senator Bernie Kenny, Councilman Ruben Ramos and his son, and me. I hope you can come out and honor those that have made the ultimate sacrifice. The parade will start at City Hall at 630 pm. This year I will be proudly marching as one of the co-founders of Hoboken’s new Post 107 American Legion Auxiliary as the daughter and granddaughter of two veterans. If you are a family member of a veteran or active due service member, please consider joining the auxiliary. I will circulate more info on this but feel free to reach out to me before. #notjustforwomen

So much to do and so many ways to be involved!
Baby bird season continues!!!! Remember to resist the urge to feed them or touch them. We actually passed at the City Council last night on first reading a new law making it illegal to feed birds. The main reason is to not encourage more to come and nest and stay in Hoboken – geese in particular. But to me, the positive is also to make sure our birds stay wild and have the greatest chance at living a natural life. If you find a baby bird on the sidewalk and don’t know what to do, call the New Jersey Raptor Trust at 908-647-2353. Attached is their flyer that also tells you what to do if you find one. You can print out or you can read it HERE. And feel free to call me if you have any questions.
Please forward to everyone you know who may be interested in this newsletter. Feel free to email me at councilwomanfisher2@gmail.com or call me at 201-208-1674 to discuss what you have read or anything else that is important to you.
