Trick-or-treating will also occur on Sunday throughout the City.

Residents should remember to take precautions and follow CDC holiday guidelines as they enjoy Halloween, including trick-or-treating in small groups, avoiding large indoor gatherings, practicing social distancing, getting vaccinated, and wearing a mask if they are unvaccinated or in a crowd. Additionally, residents should stay home if they feel sick.

The Hoboken Police Department has increased manpower to the patrol division for the weekend.

“We ask that everyone have a good time, but do so in a responsible and respectful manner,” said Hoboken Police Chief Daniel LoBue.

HPD reminds drivers to reduce their speed, be alert for trick-or-treaters who may come out from between parked cars, turn on their headlights, and stop before crosswalks to allow pedestrians to cross safely.

March in the Ragamuffin Parade

The City of Hoboken’s annual Ragamuffin Parade will be held on Sunday, Oct. 31, rain or shine. To participate in the parade, residents must meet on Washington Street between 13th Street and 14th Street starting at 10:15 a.m. The parade will begin at 11 a.m. down Washington Street to the Hoboken Little League Field.

Washington Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from 14th Street to Fifth Street, and NJ Transit buses will follow a detour during the parade.

This year, the City will not be hosting a costume contest.

Two days of trunk-or-treating

On Thursday, Oct. 28, HOPES, in partnership with the City of Hoboken, will host the Hoboken Trunk-or-Treat, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the 7th & Jackson Resiliency Park.

Seventh Street from Jackson Street to Monroe Street will be closed to vehicular traffic during the event.

The event is funded in part by the Hudson County Department of Health & Human Services.

On Saturday, Oct. 30, the Westside Women have organized a Trunk-or-Treat from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Fourth Street from Jackson Street to Harrison Street. Fourth Street will be closed to vehicular traffic during the event.

The event will also feature a costume contest!

The HoBOOken 5k is Saturday

Registration is still open for the HoBOOken 5k race scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 30. The race, along the Hoboken waterfront, begins at 10 a.m. at Pier A. It benefits the Hoboken Shelter, which serves 530 meals daily, hosts 1,000 showers weekly, and shelters 50 people nightly.

A virtual race option is also available.
