Hoboken high school students who are looking to do something during the summer are encouraged to join the city’s Teen CERT training program, the first such program of its kind in Hudson County. The 20 hour program trains teenagers to become certified, Community Emergency Response Team members.
CERT is a national program of volunteers who receive training in disaster assistance and preparedness, plus emergency response. Teens will work alongside emergency personnel, learning what it means to assist in their hometown during times of crisis.
Training sessions occur over three weeks. Week 1 is July 13th, 15th and 17th between 2 and 3:30 pm. Week 2 takes place on July 20th, 22nd and 24th at the same time. Week 3 will occur on July 27th and 29th, also from 2 until 3:30 pm.
