On Saturday, April, 25, 2020, at about 1:08 PM, Officer Wilfredo Gomez, Officer Nathanial Arocho, and Officer Cynthia Rivera, responded to Sunshine Deli and Grocery 240 Garden Street on an employee who was threatened with scissors by a costumer. As the officers arrived, they noticed a male walking north from said location matching the description given. The male then started to run and Officer Arocho and Officer River pursued the suspect. As Officer Arocho and Officer Rivera tried to catch up to the suspect, Officer Gomez entered the store and conducted an investigation. Officer Arocho and Officer Rivera were able to catch up to the suspect identified as Victor Colon in the area of 209 4th Street. Officer Gomez confirmed that the male, Victor Colon, that was stopped by Officer Arocho and Officer Rivera was the male involved in the dispute at Sunshine Deli.

The store employee informed Officer Gomez that an argument started between him and Colon, which carried outside and then back into the store. During the argument, the victim stated that Victor made threats against his life and brandished a pair of scissors with red handles. Investigation revealed Colon was in possession of scissors with red handle. Upon placing Colon under arrest he resisted and Officer Rivera sustained minor injuries while gaining control of Colon.

Colon was transported to headquarters and processed. Officer Rivera was provided medical care and returned to full duty with no restrictions.

Colon was charged with Terroristic Threats, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Resisting Arrest, and Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer.

All charges went a warrant. Colon also had a warrant out of Union City, NJ. Colon was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

Defendant is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
