45-year old Irvin Acevedo of North Bergen has been arrested by Hoboken Police according to Detective/Lieutenant Danilo Cabrera for driving under the influence and possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia.
The arrest took place at 1500 Jefferson Street last night at 8:24 PM. According to Cabrera, about 8:10 PM, Sergeant John Hermann and Police Officer Enrico Gnassi responded to the area of 1500 Jefferson Street on a report of a male sleeping in a motor vehicle. As they arrived, they observed a parked white GMC running with its brake and reverse lights activated. The operator was found conscious and disoriented.
In plain view, they found a wax fold of suspected Heroin. The operator was identified as Acevedo. He was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters, where he provided breath samples and was tested by a DRE Officer (Drug Recognition Expert). Acevedo was released on a summons to a responsible party pending his appearance in court.
The defendant is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
