According to Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello the County’s Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
Mello says that at approximately 12:35 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a stabbing on Dwight Street near Bergen Avenue. Officers responding to the scene located an unresponsive male, later identified as 47-year old Kareem Mack of Jersey City, with multiple apparent stab wounds. He was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 1:10 p.m.
During the course of the investigation, 26-year old Kyshawn Foster of Jersey City was identified as a person of interest and later charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He was arrested on Jackson Street in Hoboken and is being detained at the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance. According to Prosecutor Mello, this matter is being investigated as an act of domestic violence.
Prosecutor Mello credited the Homicide Unit, the Jersey City Police Department, and the Hoboken Police Department with the investigation and arrest. The above charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
