Kearny, NJ – Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has disclosed details regarding an ongoing investigation into a hit-and-run collision that gravely injured a moped operator in Kearny.

On Sunday, February 11, 2024, shortly after 10:15 p.m., the Kearny Police Department received reports of a moped operator struck by a cargo van near the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Bergen Avenue. Responding officers found the victim, identified as a 67-year-old man from North Arlington, with life-threatening injuries. The striking vehicle fled the scene but was later located not far from the collision site.

Emergency Medical Services swiftly transported the injured individual to University Hospital in Newark. Subsequently, he was transferred to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.
