Hudson County Executive Craig Guy designated the Hackensack River Greenway with new signs along the waterfront walkway of Stephen R. Gregg Park in Bayonne on Monday. An updated draft Hackensack River Greenway Plan is anticipated for adoption by the Hudson County Planning Board next month.
Guy highlighted the Hackensack River Greenway and the new recreation opportunities it will provide for walkers, bikers, birders, and others, while improving transportation options for Hudson County residents. The County Executive was joined by Chairman Anthony Romano, Commissioner Bill O’Dea, Commissioner Yraida Aponte-Lipski, Captain Bill Sheehan, the Hackensack Riverkeeper, 31st District Assemblywoman Barbara McCann Stamato, and Bayonne Councilman At Large Loyad Booker.
Commissioner O’Dea added, “I’m proud to join County Executive Guy, Chairman Romano and Captain Bill of the Hackensack Riverkeeper as we celebrate this one piece of the Hackensack River Greenway. This is just the beginning of what will be an amazing recreational opportunity for residents and visitors to enjoy for decades to come, and I look forward to seeing the Hackensack River Greenway extend it’s reach throughout our great County.”
