JERSEY CITY — Three people, including the Jersey City man already charged with murder in Luis Quintero’s killing, are now charged with murder in the death of Kenneth Darby, the other man killed in the May 18 attack on Old Bergen Road, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office said Tuesday.
The Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit filed the additional charges after the Regional Medical Examiner determined Darby’s cause of death to be "Stab/Incised Wounds to an Upper Extremity and a Gunshot Wound to the Thigh" and the manner to be homicide, Prosecutor Wayne Mello said in a press release issued Tuesday, Oct. 20.
Shortly after 1 a.m. on Monday, May 18, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of shots fired in the area of 109-111 Old Bergen Road, according to the release. Responding officers found Quintero, 53, and Darby, 52, both of Jersey City, unresponsive inside a residence with apparent gunshot wounds. Both men were taken to Jersey City Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead.
The new charges, according to the Prosecutor’s Office:
- Treshawn Daniels, 19, of Jersey City, is charged with murder in Darby’s death. He was previously charged with murder in Quintero’s death, as well as attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
- Jahquan Porter, 26, of Jersey City, is charged with murder, felony murder and robbery in Darby’s death. He was previously charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, terroristic threats, unlawful possession of a weapon (a knife) and possession of a weapon (a knife) for an unlawful purpose.
- Angelica Manning, 24, of Bayonne, is charged as an accomplice with murder, felony murder and robbery in Darby’s death. She was previously charged as an accomplice with attempted murder, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon (a knife) and possession of a weapon (a knife) for an unlawful purpose.
Mello’s office described the investigation into the double homicide as ongoing.

Charges are accusations; all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. "The above charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty," the Prosecutor’s Office said.
Hudson TV asks: Should the Prosecutor’s Office give the public regular updates on open homicide cases, or only when new charges are filed? Reply A: Regular updates. Reply B: Only when charges are filed.
