Hoboken Councilwoman At Large Emily Jabbour has been elected Mayor, defeating Third Ward Councilman Michael Russo in Tuesday’s runoff election.

With nearly 91-percent of Hoboken’s districts reporting, Jabbour leads Russo, the City’s longest serving Councilman, 54.03-percent to 45.97-percent.  Jabbour was the leading vote-getter in last month’s six person field, but did not receive the necessary 50-percent plus one to avoid today’s runoff.

In the race for the Council’s three, At Large seats, Jabbour’s running mates are all ahead of Russo’s running mates.  Caitlin Layson is the leading voter-getter 18.72-percent, followed by Steve Firestone, the Chairman of the City’s Zoning Board at 17.76-percent and incumbent Councilman At Large Joe Quintero at 17.44-percent.
