A Jersey City fire early this morning claims the life of a 61-year old male.  Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez says the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Jersey City Fire Department are investigating.

The blaze broke out on Thursday morning, May 2 at approximately 4:50 a.m.   The Jersey City Fire Department was notified that flames in a high-rise, residential building at 270 Marin Boulevard had lit up the night sky.   Emergency responders found smoke coming from an apartment on the twelfth floor.

According to Prosecutor Suarez, an unresponsive male, identified as Ramon Abello of Jersey City, was located inside a unit and transported to the Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead just after 6:45 a.m.

The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation by the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Jersey City Fire Department. Foul play is not suspected at this time.
