Jersey City Man Convicted On All Counts For 2019 Shooting Death of Jason Dunbar

JURY CONVICTS MAN ON ALL CHARGES FOR 2019 FATAL SHOOTING IN JERSEY CITY

Yesterday a Hudson County jury convicted 36-year old Darius Bolden of Jersey City, on all counts for his role in the shooting death of 35-year old Jason Dunbar of Jersey City, on Tuesday, August 27, 2019.

Bolden was found guilty of murder, a crime of the first degree, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, a crime of the second degree, and unlawful possession of a weapon, a crime of the second degree.  The verdict was delivered before the Honorable Mitzy Galis Menendez, J.S.C., following a two week trial.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, on Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at approximately 11:45 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 169 Fulton Avenue.  Responding officers found an unresponsive man – later identified as Dunbar – with multiple apparent gunshot wounds.  Dunbar was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center and pronounced dead at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2019.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be multiple gun shot wounds and manner of death to be homicide.

Sentencing is scheduled for Friday, August 12, 2022. The State is represented in this case by Assistant Prosecutor David Feldman and Assistant Prosecutor Nicole Ghezzar.
