A 30-year old, Jersey City woman was arrested by Hoboken Police on Sunday night after being involved in a motor vehicle accident at approximately 9:50. The incident took place at 412 Monroe Street.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 2017 Black Honda with its airbags deployed, a cracked windshield and heavy damage to the car’s front end. The vehicle was operated by Emily Vieni. An investigation determined that Vieni had struck a 2017, Red Toyota which was parked. The parked car was occupied by a driver and front seat passenger.
Upon further investigation by the attending officers on the scene, it was determined that Vieni’s breath had an alcohol odor. She was put through the appropriate DWI testing and failed. Police made the determination that she could not operate a vehicle safely.
She was arrested and taken to Hoboken Police Headquarters. A police report says she was above the legal limit.
An investigation also determined Vieni was driving with a suspended license. She is also charged with reckless driving.
She was released into the custody of a responsible party. The defendant is deemed innocent until proven guilty in court.
