During the 10th Annual Hoboken Green Fair on Saturday, Oct. 2, Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla recognized over 30 businesses as 2021 Hoboken Green Businesses that are advancing sustainability and environmental responsibility.
“Now more than ever, as Hoboken faces increasing frequency and severity of weather events caused in part by climate change, it is important that businesses integrate sustainable and environmental best practices,” said Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla. “These businesses lead by example and are doing their part to fight climate change each and every day. I thank the owners of these establishments for being conscientious entrepreneurs.”

The Hoboken Green Team launched the Green Business Recognition Program in 2017 to distinguish local businesses that are committed to progressive and responsible environmental values.
To qualify, businesses completed the Green Business Pledge and Application on the Hoboken Green Team website. The Hoboken Green Team then reviewed the applications and determined that 32 businesses qualified for recognition as 2021 Hoboken Green Businesses.
Some examples of sustainable actions these businesses take include offering reusable utensils, using biodegradable or eco-friendly packaging, reducing food waste, recycling and composting, participating in environmental causes, and more.
