Mayor Steven M. Fulop, Public Safety Director James Shea, and Fire Chief Steven McGill will swear in 16 new firefighters to the Jersey City Fire Department at a 10 a.m. ceremony this Tuesday, January 14, 2020 inside City Hall, furthering the Administration’s efforts to increase public safety. The new class of firefighters is the Department’s tenth class sworn in since Mayor Fulop took office, having hired a total of 204 new firefighters to bring the department to a historic total of 666 members.
The new class is also the sixth to complete additional EMT training partially funded through a federal SAFER grant, and are all fully EMT-certified.
