North Bergen, NJ – Mayor Nick Sacco has announced his intention to run for re-election in the upcoming May nonpartisan election. Mayor Sacco has served the residents of North Bergen since he first took office and has made a significant impact on the Township through his commitment to improving the quality of life for residents.
“It has been an honor to serve the residents of North Bergen as Mayor. During my time in office, I have worked tirelessly to improve our community in areas such as education, infrastructure, recreation, and public safety, all while keeping property taxes stable to keep our community affordable,” said Mayor Sacco.
Mayor Sacco will be joined by two new members of his ticket this election. Commissioner Frank Gargiulo recently announced his retirement from elected office and Commissioner Julio Marenco is running for State Assembly. They are Hudson County Commissioner Chairman Anthony Vainieri and Board of Education Trustee Claudia Rodriguez. Vainieri, a lifelong North Bergen resident and local business owner, has worked tirelessly to improve James J. Braddock Hudson County Park, while Rodriguez will make history as North Bergen’s first Latina Commissioner.

Commissioner Vainieri has done excellent work for North Bergen on the County level, and Claudia Rodriguez will make history as our first Latina Commissioner. I look forward to working with both Anthony and Claudia as well as the other Commissioners to keep delivering progress for North Bergen,” said Mayor Sacco.

In a phone call with Hudson TV, Vainieri stated that if he becomes elected on May 9th, he will attend the Hudson County Commissioners meeting as chairman on May 11th and will resign during the meeting. The HCDO will then hold a special meeting to vote for the new member that will become commissioner for the district 8 until new Hudson County elections later this year.
