Approximately 4,000 North Bergen families will enjoy a festive Thanksgiving meal they may not have been able to afford thanks to NB C.A.R.E.S. and the Nicholas J. Sacco Foundation.
On Monday at the town’s Rec Center, township families were able to pick up either a turkey or frozen pork, plus a bag full of holiday trimmings, to prepare for a family dinner on Thursday. All you had to do was show proof of North Bergen residency.

The free, holiday meal giveaway has been going on for many years, but each holiday season it seems to get bigger and bigger. Given the recent pandemic and the financial struggle many families have been facing, Mayor Sacco and the Board of Commissioners are proud to be able to help ease the burden on residents just a little bit, even if it’s just for a day.
The turkey and Thanksgiving food distribution on Monday is just the beginning of what residents can expect to see as the holiday season continues. Winterfest is upcoming, as is the annual toy drive and holiday toy distribution.
Mayor Sacco, the Board of Commissioners, all of the volunteers and Parks Department employees who unloaded the turkeys and packed the giveaway food bags, wish township residents a healthy and a Happy Thanksgiving.
