NEARLY 92 GRAMS OF COCAINE SEIZED AND TWO ARRESTED IN UNION CITY NARCOTICS OPERATION

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:
On June 15, 2021, following an investigation, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant at an apartment in Union City leading to the seizure of nearly 92 grams of cocaine, heroin and drug paraphernalia.

At approximately 5 a.m., officers arrested two individuals who were charged with various narcotics offenses. The search warrant and narcotics seizures occurred at 1112 Palisade Avenue, Unit 1A in Union City.

• Charlie Carmona, age 34, of Union City, was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS (cocaine) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5, Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS (heroin) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5, Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS (cocaine) Within 500 feet of a park in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7.1, Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS (heroin) Within 500 feet of a park in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7.1; Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS (cocaine) Within 1,00 feet of a school in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7, Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS (heroin) Within 1,000 feet of a school in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7; two counts of Conspiracy to Distribute CDS in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2 and 35-5, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:36-3.

• Javier Fong-Martinez, age 30, of Union City, was charged with two counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS (cocaine) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5, Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS (heroin) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5, two counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS (cocaine) Within 500 feet of a park in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7.1, one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS (heroin) Within 500 feet of a park in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7.1; two counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS (cocaine) Within 1,00 feet of a school in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7, Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS (heroin) Within 1,000 feet of a school in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7; two counts of Conspiracy to Distribute CDS in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2 and 35-5, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:36-3.
Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force, the Hudson County Regional SWAT Team and the Hudson County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit, with the investigation and arrests.

The above charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6(b)(6).
