**This article has been updated to reflect the fact that the HCPO is investigating Thursday’s auto accident involving Senator Cunningham.                                                                                                                                                                          TAPinto.net is reporting that the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has taken over the investigation into State Senator Sandra Cunningham’s (D – District 31) automobile accident on Thursday morning.  Reportedly, Senator Cunningham was driving while intoxicated when the car she was driving westbound on Culver Avenue in Jersey City struck two, parked vehicles.

According to city officials, results of a blood test and sobriety check were still pending when the police report was issued.  The TAPinto article says those results will be a part of the evidence the Prosecutor’s Office examines.

According to public records, in 2006, Cunningham pled guilty to operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  She paid a $708 fine after she was ticketed in November 2005 with a DWI with a blood alcohol reading of .18.
