North Bergen Begins New Learning Model For Gifted Students

The pandemic may have delayed the implementation of the North Bergen Board of Education’s new, S.T.E.A.M. program until the start of the current. academic year, but for the 80 or so gifted and talented, 5th and 6th graders enrolled in the program, the chance to learn more about science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics has been a welcome addition to their curriculums.

The new program is housed in the Kennedy School.  The students are divided into two classrooms for each of the two grade levels.  Think of it as the district’s brightest youngsters learning outside of the box.  Hands on experimentation teaching them the precursor to the academics they will eventually learn once enrolled in the High School’s S.T.E.M. Academy.

The students are bused to the Kennedy School from their regular schools in the morning before returned to their schools after a full day of S.T.E.A.M. instruction.
