North Bergen Fatal Collision Investigation Continues Into Friday Hit-and-Run

A tragic event on the road took place in North Bergen on Friday.  Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez says the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the North Bergen Police Department are continuing their investigating into a collision in which the operator of a motorcycle was fatally struck by a vehicle on Friday night, May 5, 2023.

According to police, this is a hit-and-run, as the striking vehicle did not remain at the scene.

Suarez says at approximately 9:00 p.m., the North Bergen Police Department was notified that a motorcycle lying in the road in the area of Granton and Liberty Avenues with no apparent operator of the vehicle. on scene.  During the preliminary investigation, responding police officers found an injured male in the area of 76th Street, several blocks from the motorcycle.

The man has been identified as 23-year old, North Bergen resident, Joshua Huayamave.  He was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Palisades Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 9:40 p.m. Friday night.

This tragic accident is currently under investigation by both the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the North Bergen Police Department.

  1. May he Rest In Peace and in Gods loving arms. And the motorist who hit him, may he ROT IN HELL!!!! I’m shocked that not one business on Tonnelle Avenue or a home on 76th Street doesn’t have any type of camera facing the street.
