North Bergen’s 46th Street Park Honored With Statewide Design Award

A recently renovated park in the Township of North Bergen has received a prestigious, statewide award for design.  It was announced this morning that North Bergen’s Parks & Recreation Department, in collaboration with Remington and Vernick Engineers, has been honored by the New Jersey Society of Municipal Engineers.   The award came at this year’s New Jersey State League of Municipalities (NJSML) in Atlantic City for the exceptional design of the completely renovated, 46th Street Park.

According to a press release from the Township, “The award celebrates the stunning design and thoughtful development of 46th Street Park which incorporates sustainable practices and aesthetic appeal. Some of the most impressive features include a dog park paved with heat resistant turf, stormwater technology and heat-repelling materials that minimize heat generation throughout the playground, a new spray park, and significant upgrades to the baseball field. The town’s strong commitment to the community’s well-being and sensitivity to the surrounding environment is clearly represented in the implementation of this project.”

Mayor Nicholas Sacco was thrilled with the recognition, expressing his pride in the accomplishment, stating, “This award underscores the dedication of everyone involved in making 46th Street Park a reality. Our parks are the heart of our community, and this recognition affirms the exceptional work being done to improve our shared spaces.”

Hugo Cabrera, North Bergen’s Parks and Recreation Commissioner, added, “Congratulations and a big thank you to everyone who brought this to life.  As the town grows, so should the spaces we provide for people to gather and take in fresh air. This park represents that growth and the town’s commitment to our residents.”
